Selkirk Fishermen 2024-25 Team Awards and Graduating Players

Selkirk Fishermen 2024-25 Team Awards and Graduating Players

Selkirk Fishermen

As the Selkirk Fishermen wrapped up their 2024-25 season with the annual awards banquet last week, the organization took time to honor and celebrate the careers of their graduating players—three exceptional young men who have left a lasting impact on the team, both on and off the ice.

Captain Kyle Folhoffer capped off a stellar junior hockey career that began with the Fishermen in the 2021-22 season. Over his tenure, Kyle played in 124 games, tallying 28 goals and 73 assists for an impressive 101 points, along with 219 penalty minutes and two championships with the team. His leadership, grit, and playmaking ability have been a cornerstone of the team’s identity, and his presence in the locker room will be deeply missed.

Assistant Captain Marcus King, who first donned the Fishermen jersey during the shortened 2020-21 season, leaves behind a legacy of toughness and heart. In 96 games, Marcus recorded 5 goals, 13 assists, for 18 points while racking up a remarkable 473 penalty minutes and two championship rings along the way. His physical presence and unwavering commitment to protecting his teammates made him a fan favorite.

Julius Guimond joined the Fishermen for the 2022-23 season and quickly established himself as a consistent and dependable forward. Over 102 games, he notched 16 goals and 27 assists for a total of 43 points with just 16 penalty minutes and a championship. Known for his smart two-way play and quiet leadership, Julius has been a key contributor on both ends of the ice.

The Selkirk Fishermen organization would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Kyle, Marcus, and Julius for their hard work, dedication, and the countless memories they’ve created in Fishermen colours. Their contributions have helped shape the culture and spirit of the team, and they will forever be a part of the Fishermen family.

We wish all three graduating players the very best in their future endeavors beyond hockey.

Along with our graduating players, we honoured the outstanding contributions of several team members who rose above and beyond throughout the 2024–25 season.

Top Scorer – Logan Saluk
We began by honoring the team’s Top Scorer, awarded to forward Logan Saluk. A consistent offensive force, Saluk led the Fishermen through the regular season with 21 goals and 20 assists for 41 points in 30 games. When the playoffs began, he reached another gear, contributing 7 goals and 5 assists in just 8 postseason games. Remarkably, he tied for first in playoff scoring league-wide, despite playing seven fewer games than the player he tied with. Logan’s impact on the scoresheet and his ability to deliver in crucial moments were invaluable. Congratulations Logan.

Rookie of the Year – Ashton Schroeder
The Mark Hendry Memorial Rookie of the Year Award was presented to Ashton Schroeder, who made an immediate impression after joining the team ten games into the season. Ashton quickly found his rhythm, finishing fifth in team scoring with 8 goals and 10 assists for 18 points in just 28 games. Beyond his offensive contributions, he became one of the Fishermen’s most reliable defensive forwards and a key figure on the penalty kill. Congratulations Ashton on a fantastic rookie campaign.

The Most Improved Player award was earned by Izzy Aime, whose journey this season was a testament to perseverance and determination. Through his first 24 games, Izzy had just 4 goals and 2 points, but his unwavering commitment to improving—on the ice, in practice, and away from the rink—paid off. In the final stretch of the regular season, he tallied 2 goals and 3 assists in the last 6 games. He continued to elevate his play in the postseason, adding 3 goals and an assist over 9 playoff appearances. Congratulations Izzy on your inspiring development.

A true leader in every sense, Kyle exemplified professionalism, character, and heart both on the ice and in the locker room. While leading the Fishermen with an unwavering work ethic, he also pursued his business degree at Red River College, balancing academics with a high-level competition. Kyle’s influence on team culture and morale cannot be overstated. Congratulations Kyle.
