The Selkirk Fishermen remain in first place after a much-needed win over the Lundar Falcons on Sunday afternoon.
Selkirk doubled Lundar 4-2 in Capital Region Junior Hockey League action at the Recreation Complex.
The Fishermen battled back from a 2-0 second-period deficit.
The Falcons’ Ryan Benson scored in the first period and then Riley Zdan made it 2-0 with a power-play marker in the second.
Peyton Moneyas had a great game for the Fishermen, scoring three goals and adding an assist.
He started the comeback in the second with a goal and then Kasen Andrushko struck with the man advantage in the third to tie the score at 2-2.
Moneyas netted a power-play goal about six minutes later and then he added an empty-net goal with Falcons’ goaltender Jordan Armstrong pulled for an extra attacker.
Selkirk played the St. Malo Warriors this past Tuesday but no score was available.
The Fishermen had 65 points heading into that game, six ahead of second-place St. Malo.
The Fishermen will visit the Arborg Ice Dawgs Saturday (7:30 p.m.) and the North Winnipeg Satelites next Tuesday (8 p.m.).
In off-ice news, Selkirk had three players named CRJHL all stars.
Forward Jordan Donald, goaltender Owen Derewianchuk, and defensemen Cale Jonski each were selected.
Donald, the Fishermen captain, has scored 18 goals and 15 assists in 22 games while Cale Jonski has one goal to go with 21 assists.
Derewianchuk has a record of 10 wins, one loss, a tie, and an overtime loss.
He also has a league-leading six shutouts, a 0.84 goals-against average, and a .965 save percentage.
