Fishermen down the Satelites, Ice Dawgs

The Selkirk Fishermen defeated the North Winnipeg Satelites 3-1 on Sunday at the Recreation Complex.

Jordan Donald scored a first-period goal for Selkirk before the Satelites’ Davis Epp and the Fishermen’s Kasen Andrushko traded goals in the second.

Selkirk’s Gage O’Neill closed out the scoring with an empty-net goal with 25 seconds remaining in the game.

Selkirk’s Kyle Folhoffer had two assists. 

Fishermen goaltender Marcus Sharpe made 23 saves for the win.

Last Friday, the Fishermen doubled the Ice Dawgs 8-4 in Arborg.

Selkirk, which grabbed a 5-1 first-period lead, had goals from Dawson Bergagnini (three), Matt Brooks (two), Folhoffer, Ryland Schroeder, and Andrushko.

Bergagnini had a super game with six points while Brooks added four points.

Ben Danielson (two), Austin Loewen, and Tyson Barylski replied for Arborg.

Selkirk was 4-for-6 with the man advantage while Arborg was 2-for-9.

Sharpe made 23 saves for the win.

Selkirk, now 9-1-1 and in first place with 28 points, played North Winnipeg this past Tuesday in Warren but no score was available.

The Fishermen’s next game is this Saturday (7 p.m.) on the road against the Lundar Falcons.
