The Selkirk Fishermen wrapped up their Capital Region Junior Hockey League

regular season with another victory.

But it wasn’t easy.

Selkirk squeaked out a hard-fought 2-1 win over the Falcons in Lundar on Saturday evening.

Selkirk’s Reece Tessier scored a first-period goal and then Jordan Donald made it 2-0 in the second.

Riley Wirgau scored Lundar’s lone goal in the second period.

Owen Derewianchuk made 22 saves for the win.

On Friday, Selkirk hammered the St. Malo Warriors 6-1 at the Recreation Complex.

Kyle Folhoffer led Selkirk with two goals while Tessier, Josh Poponick, Peyton Moneyas, and Donald added singles.

Levi Penner scored St. Malo’s goal in the second period.

Selkirk outshot St. Malo 37-16 as Brendon Hocaluk earned the win.

The Fishermen will play the winner between Lundar and North Winnipeg in their best-of-three survivor series. Selkirk will host Game 1 this Sunday at 3 p.m.

In off-ice news, Selkirk had three players - Tessier, Poponick and Derewianchuk - named as CRJHL all stars.
