Fishermen defeat Ice Dawgs

The Selkirk Record Staff

The Selkirk Fishermen had a really good battle with the Arborg Ice Dawgs on Saturday in Selkirk.

The Fishermen won that battle by scoring four-first period goals in a 4-3 victory over the Ice Dawgs.

The two teams combined to score five goals in a 3:53 span late in the opening period.

Peyton Moneyas, Travis Spratt, Dominic Suhr, and Jordan Beaulieu scored for Selkirk.

Tyson Barylski tallied for Arborg in the first period and then Kalen Guimond and Ben Danielson scored 33 seconds apart in the second.

Owen Derewianchuk made 23 saves for the win.

The first-place Fishermen now have 15 points, five ahead of the St. Malo Warriors.

The Fishermen will visit the Lundar Falcons this Friday (8 p.m.) and the Warriors Saturday (7 p.m.).
