After losing their first game of the season Friday, the Selkirk Fishermen rebounded nicely to defeat the Lundar Falcons 6-3 on Sunday in Capital Region Junior Hockey League action at the Rec Complex.
In the win, Selkirk scored four times in the second period and then added two more in the third.
Reece Tessier paced Selkirk with two goals and an assist. The Fishermen’s other goals were scored by Cale Jonski, Evan Bedard, Tyson Parker and Dane Derewianchuk.
Bedard, Dane Derewianchuk, and Evan Leeson each finished the game with two points.
Josh Wilkinson (two) and Colby Choken replied for Lundar.
Riley Bannerman made 27 saves for the win.
On Friday, the Fishermen lost 5-3 to the Warriors in St. Malo.
Leeson scored for Selkirk in the first period and then Bedard sniped a pair in the second.
Zack Parkinson and Dane Derewianchuk each had two assists.
Maxime Collette (two), Alex Murray, Cole Holdnick, and Evan Anstett scored for St. Malo.
Bannerman made 31 saves in the losing cause.
Last Thursday, the Fishermen pounded the Ice Dawgs 8-2 in Arborg.
Arborg’s Blaze Bezecki scored the first goal of the game but Selkirk came roaring back with seven straight tallies.
Chad King had a fantastic game for the Fishermen with two goals and four assists while Jordan Donald also tallied twice.
Bedard had a goal and two assists. Tessier, Leeson, and Braeden Hummel also scored for Selkirk.
Josh Roche netted the Ice Dawgs’ other goal in the third period.
Selkirk was an impressive 4-for-9 on the power play while Arborg finished 1-for-3.
Owen Derewianchuk made 36 saves for the victory.
The first-place Fishermen will visit Lundar on Friday and then North Winnipeg next Tuesday. Puck drop for both games is 8 p.m.
