The Selkirk Fishermen continue to lead the Capital Region Junior Hockey League standings.
Selkirk had another good weekend after shutting out the North Winnipeg Satelites 4-0 on Sunday at the Rec Complex.
Dane Derewianchuk scored a first-period goal for the Fishermen and then Ben Kelly and Kyle Melo tallied in the second.
Evan Bedard closed out the scoring in the third.
Owen Derewianchuk made 28 saves for the shutout.
On Friday, the Fishermen defeated the Lundar Falcons 5-4 in overtime at the Rec Complex.
Chad King scored the overtime game winner. It was his second goal of the game.
Zack Parkinson had a goal and an assist while Cole Wasnie and Dane Derewianchuk also tallied for Selkirk.
Ryan Gleich, Riley Wirgau, Braden Paulic and Josh Wilkenson scored for Lundar.
The Fishermen outshot the Falcons 46-31 as Brendon Hocaluk earned the win in goal.
With the two wins, Selkirk now has a four regulation victories and two overtime wins is six games for 16 points. The Fishermen are seven points ahead of second-place St. Malo although the Warriors have played two fewer games.
Selkirk doesn’t play a league game again until Nov. 8 when it hosts the Arborg Ice Dawgs. The next evening, the Satelites will visit Selkirk. Both games will start at 7:30 p.m.
